Attended tonight’s First Tuesday networking event on green technology with two very inspiring speakers, James Cameron of Climate Change Capital and John Elkington of Volans Ventures. Many topics were debated ranging from the 7 to 8 year global economic meltdown that we are apparently only just entering through to  ‘creative destruction’ and the need for hope out of the old order.  Also debated was the long-term shift in global balance towards Asia Pac and how Obama made the right decision by investing into clean technology.

Was green technology discussed ? Absolutely. The IT industy’s skills in developing large scale solutions is perfect for this new market.  And it’s started to happen already ranging from Intel’s move into sustainability with its servocell offering and IBM’s recent entry into the water industry. It won’t be long before we are using mobile devices to manage all the energy efficiency in our homes.  Meanwhile is there an investment opportunity with green bonds?
