CEOs in midst of hurricane? September 8, 2009

I read plenty of interesting articles while on holiday particularly on how social media is revolutionising businesses. I particularly liked this one in the UK Observer (but can the observer still be saved) which is an article on how CEOs are trying to engage in social media and often failing. To sum up it refers to writer, Steven Johnson “It’s like the effect of a hurricane on an ancient forest. There’s massive destruction, lots of venerable trees are felled, where there was dense foliage there are now clearings and lots of sunlight. And in those clearings lots of interesting things are sprouting…which will one day replace what the hurricane destroyed.”  There has probably never a been a more exciting time to be in business.  And CEOs should to be allowed to experiment to enable businesses to change for the long-term. If they don’t change, they might not survive the hurricane.
