Spam is a joke again? March 10, 2010

An editorial in the New Scientist catches the eye. Makes the point that we’ve got on top of the computer spam problem to a point that it’s much less of a nuisance and indeed laughable. Well perhaps the problem is under some control but this is only being achieved by investment in better techniques to stop the spam in the cloud.  The image that comes to mind is of a duck floating on a river:  stately above the waterline; paddling furiously below to keep still. Looking at my spam filter and there’s still a load of vile stuff getting through. But I agree with the New Scientist that some  examples of spam are comical.   A year or more ago we worked with a client with an equine name but nothing to do with the noble sport of kings. But  today I regularly have to delete one or more spam daily about which nag to bet on for the 2.30 at Aintree or where to buy a well endowed stallion.
